Chasing the forex trading dream (good and bad)

Most people who dabble in trading at some point think about doing it for a living. For some the its the dream before they actually start. Thoughts of making tons of money and doing what you want everyday. Its a nice thought. It usually remains elusive for many reasons.
With each new boom we see more people trying to move into trading for a living. The big online day trader movement in the 90s was huge. With massive market moves, better access and cheaper trades it was a given. Many made the transition and did well. Most did not. Too much just following, not enough understanding.
Now with forex and binary options providing extremely low cost alternatives we are seeing it again. Don’t get me wrong, I want see more traders. More volume, and in general for people to succeed. Its better for all of us. I just know that most won’t look at what really happens. Fantasy instead of reality.
The reality is that it usually takes more capital than you think to do it full time. The learning curve into success takes longer than most plan for. Lastly paper trading and demo doesn’t mean you’ll kill it live!  Great tools but actual money on the line changes emotions. I’ve even seen it with strictly automated traders. Things don’t go as planned and the nervous tinkering starts.
I love trading. I love helping traders. Still I will always be honest. Its hard. It takes time. The pressure will be on once you make that move. Take the time to really learn as you trade part time. Take the time to understand what the life over here is really like. The upside of that is that even if you don’t move full time, you will do better. A little more money is a good thing!  You also may find that you don’t want the full trader life. You may like what you do now. Trading might just be extra. It likely is and that is fantastic.
This can be an absolutely brutal business when its your life. Over the years I’ve gotten better about being involved in other things. Not for finances but because its nice to be off this darn screen some lol.  Just think about it. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did.
Whether full time is your dream or just wanting to trade, learn!  Don’t just blindly follow. Moreover don’t just make the mistakes that you can’t identify and fail or give up.  You can be better. Take a look at our services page and get a little inexpensive help getting better.
