Don’t fall into the 90’s day trader traps

I’ve been in this business since 1995 and I’ve seen just a bit over that time. One thing that has really stuck with me is the attitude and technique of many of the tech bubble day traders. I’m not knocking day traders at all, we are all traders period. I’m no different. What is different is the attitude that we saw amongst some retail day traders during that time. Emboldened by the big easy moves, they didn’t learn to trade. They didn’t learn the markets. Things like listed stocks were made fun of(old man stuff I heard it called). It all supposedly didn’t matter. If you had a professional background you were silly. Old school and basically the enemy. Then things popped and go hard as they always do. Many, instead of getting pro help and learning to really do the job bought bad systems. They just tried to ride again. The easy way. They didn’t look at what they were doing wrong, just something different and easy. Then they were just gone. Out of the game. Some worked and learned and they are still here.
    So what’s my point and how does it relate to forex trading?  We are seeing that here now. Forex had a huge boom based on low cost entry and lots of action. While the times we are in can be great with volatility, it can break you if you have not really done your homework. Everyday I see a new system sold. A new trading bot. A new trade copier. Some I’m sure will be fine but the vast majority are junk. Sold to struggling traders by people with less than five years in the business. Many who never traded for a living.
       Don’t fall into that. Learn what you are doing wrong and work to fix it. Learn what you are doing right and keep it.You have to do your homework and see how the forex market works. Not a shortcut. Its often simple things that make the difference. Picking apart what you are doing(time frames,unaware of current events, risk management). No this isn’t groundbreaking, but it is what works over and over. Learn and you’ll last in this business. Otherwise you’ll just keep buying bots and systems.
