Don’t walk blindly in forex

While you can’t anticipate every little nuance out there that moves forex a bit, you can limit how many you are missing. Yes it is NFP week and that’s the focus. We always data dropping and that’s a primary, but speeches and potential political action.  Forex is not just about banks and bankers. World events both small and large can cause quick violent blips in fx. The outcome for the trader is far more likely to be good if the trader is aware. Yes some of these are surprises, but many are listed speeches or items on an agenda.
Think about it. The ECB yakking this morning was expected and known. Many traders don’t give it a thought and got smacked around a bit during the back and forth whip we saw. Deeper than that, the Netanyahu speech to American legislators didn’t cross the mind of tons of traders. Still, things were popping during the speech. Then each round of sound bites played from it later caused bits of movement. It was certainly something to be aware of and a bit of an opportunity.
The forex market is a different animal.  It is both numbers and reaction to policy in a true macro sense. Being aware ahead of time by doing your homework can bring new opportunity and limit outsized risk. Take some time to see what’s beyond that blinking platform on your screen.
